Weddings
The Community’s ministerial staff are ordained Interfaith ministers registered with the City of New York, and have active ministries performing weddings, commitment ceremonies, baby blessings, funerals, and other life cycle ceremonies.
The range of wedding ceremonies they have performed is enormous, from gala events marrying international celebrities, to intimate celebrations in private homes. The most unusual of these may have been when Rev. Allan was invited to India to officiate a four day wedding ceremony that culminated with the bride entering on an elephant.
No matter what the situation, each member of the Community staff creates every ceremony individually, and that ceremony reflects the special characteristics and qualities of each couple. As Interfaith ministers, they have studied the world’s major religions and spiritual practices and are able to incorporate elements and rituals from these traditions. Ceremonies can also be non-religious, yet spiritual in nature, or humanist. Always, the result is a ceremony that is unique, meaningful, sacred, and joyous.
A wonderful option for couples is to have Revs. Susanna and Allan co-officiate their wedding. The energy created by a bride and groom with two officiants (who have enjoyed a long and joyful marriage) is indeed extraordinary. In this combination Susanna and Allan can offer parts of the ceremony in other languages, and/or have Allan play the romantic and moving Native American Flute during select moments in the ceremony.
